Be Your Own Doll

Posted by Duch | 10:15 am

HeroBuildersNothing says more than you made it then when a company builds a doll, or should I say an action figure in your likeness. But not all of us are lucky enough to star in a big summer action flick. That’s where Herobuilders.com comes in, a company that manufactures action figures and also can build a custom action figure of oneself. Just send in a picture of yourself, select your build, and clothes and you’ll be all set.

If it’s not vain enough to have an action figure of yourself, you can always order several dozen and give them to friends and family on their birthdays because I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.

John Varvatos Spring 07
One word for this collection - skinny! From the skinny models that remind me of the heroine chic look of an early Kate Moss but men, to the skinny 80’s tie comeback, to the skinny pant legs. I can’t see anyone not tall or skinny pull off this collection, but if you’re one of the lucky few that have the shape you’re guaranteed to look good with John Varvatos.

I actually like the slender look, especially with pants, the bootcut has really overstayed its welcome. Another thing to notice in the collection is that it’s still cool to go sockless, amen!

Apple Updates The iPod Lineup

Posted by Duch | 4:20 pm

New iPod NanoThe pictures of the new iPod were finally revealed today. Referring to our old post earlier today, movies on your iPod were true but the new widescreen iPod wasn’t. The iPod nanos now look like the old minis, the shuffle is even smaller, and an 80gig iPod was added to the regular lineup. Overall I found the new iPods pretty disappointing, yes the screens got improved, more capacity was added, and a longer battery life is always nice but it was nothing revolutionary.

I guess it’s not such a bad thing, now I can waste my money on some other novelty item.

Apple Announcing Movies through iTunesI guess cornering the online music distribution and animation market is not enough for Steve Jobs. Rumor has it, well it’s pretty much a done deal that Apple will be announcing later today the availability of full length movies on iTunes (maybe they should change the name now). They even shutdown iTunes temporarily today, a possible hint that the rumors are true. Current reports are saying that only Disney and Pixar movies will be available to download. But I’m sure movies through iTunes will be a hit and other studios will be forced to jump onboard, like some reluctant labels and artists were when iTunes first appeared.

To support movie viewing on your iPod, rumor has it that Apple will also be announcing several new iPods. One of them to have a widescreen that is touch sensitive and bluetooth support.

Looks like another reason to upgrade … why am I such a sucker for these things?

Justin Timberlake FutureSex/LoveSoundsJustin Timberlake former member of N’Sync has released his second solo project today dubbed FutureSex/LoveSounds. Those boy band days are long gone, Justin has actually successfully broke the image and has become a respectful performer. For his second round, Justin has decided to ditch The Neptunes, instead choosing another very hot producer, Timbaland who produced Nelly Furtado’s hugely successful sophomore project.

Sexy Back the first single of the album is already a huge hit, pretty much the since the day it was leaked on the Internet. And with words like “I’m bring sexy back” and “Get your sexy on” I can’t be more than happier because that’s ultimately what I’m trying to do myself. Obviously Justin Timberlake has a bit more of an audience, but I’m also working on that … watch out now!

Mondrian HotelLocated in West Hollywood on the famous Sunset Strip, this ultra-modern 4 star hotel will leave you feeling like a movie star. Famous for the rooftop bar and lounge appropriately named Sky Bar. Opened in 1999, the Sky Bar quickly become the hottest night spot in town for celebs. It’s an intimate, low-key outdoor venue, where you can lounge poolside on large chaises and enjoy a spectacular view of L.A. below.

The reason why the Sky Bar has remained popular in a town where trends come and go is the exclusivity. This also poses a huge problem, it’s not enough to just look good and have a hot date, you somehow need to get on the guest list. Other than having someone in the know, the easiest way is to stay at the hotel because a hotel room key immediately gains you entrance to the Sky Bar.

Also, bring lots of cash, drinks are a flat $18 each, not including tip.

Lacoste Spring 07 Collection

Posted by Duch | 11:07 am

Lacoste Spring 07 CollectionThe Lacoste Spring 07 collection was displayed earlier this weekend and was the first real menswear collection to show a bit of color. The collection really reminded me of French playboy with the white loafers and shortened pants. Few other notables of the collection was the trend that men’s shorts continually are getting shorter and the use of a lot of synthetic material.

Panasonic 103 PlasmaIf you have $70,000 burning a hole in your pocket, may I suggest not wasting it on a new car or a downpayment on a new place, but the world’s largest high definition plasma display instead. Panasonic has announced the unbelievable TH-103PF9UK which is a 103” plasma television that supports 1080p natively. That’s equivalent to the size of four 50-inch plasma’s displays.

This super-large television probably won’t make it to many households instead be used for commercial applications like NASA’s command center. But if you are big time enough, I guarantee this will make you the envy of everyone within your city limits and most likely the next city over.

Panasonic expects to release the behemoth television before Christmas of this year.

Electrolux Declares War On White

Posted by Duch | 10:19 am

Electrolux ScreenfridgeElectrolux one of the biggest appliance manufactures has declared War on White(WoW). Their first WoW appliance they introduced is the Screenfridge, which have decorative designs on the front instead of your typical white, black, or stainless finish. It’s all inspired by different design disciplines outside of the appliance industry, such as fashion, interior design and architecture.

Electrolux is also expecting to do the same treatment to many other home appliances.

“It has become clear that now more than ever, people want unique products that allow them to express their individuality through their choices” says Henrik Otto, Senior Vice President Global Design at Electrolux.

My opinion is it’s always nice to see art introduce in things that you would never expect, but your typical stainless design is sleek enough for me.

Gray Is The New Blue

Posted by Duch | 9:07 pm

greyjeans.jpgGray or Grey for our American readers is making a comeback when it comes to jeans. Although your classic blue jeans will never go out of style, the gray jeans are becoming the next big thing. And no, these aren’t the gray acid wash jeans that you can spot in 80’s movies and music videos.

In general, gray is making a huge comeback in men’s fashion wear. The Spring ’07 Perry Ellis revealed earlier today at Olympus Fashion Week was entirely white, gray, or a shade close to it. And I won’t be surprise to see more men’s collection that’s main palette is a shade of gray.

This is a trend to definetly keep track of …

perryellis01.pngPerry Ellis one of my favorite labels and designer would follow John Bartlett’s show at Olympus Fashion Week. Just like John Bartlett’s collection, the Perry Ellis collection lacked color signaling a possible trend for next spring. Not something I agree with, but seeing how menswear has always been more about fit and shape, then patterns and colors the Perry Ellis collection does not disappoint. The only thing that had me scratching my head was the high waist of the pants, too much Steve Urkel-esque for me.
